I’m Wahla Smalls !
I am a Liberian Jersey Girl born and raised in Trenton. I spent my adolescent years in Wisconsin, where I attended college and moved to Chicago to continue my education & creative endeavors.
In 2010 I launched my first blog by the name of ¥£$ Movement, conducting media coverage for music and fashion events, interviewing and photographing models, entrepreneurs, and music artists in the Chicagoland area. A year later, while still running the blog, I interned for Slip N Slide Records as a social media marketer. That following year I interned for an online magazine, Empire Radio Magazine, where I interviewed K.Michelle, record producer Amadeus, music manager D. Leakes and many more. Between 2010 - 2015 I turned my blog into a media brand, launched a clothing line, became a music manager, and fell in love with Photography & Videography.
I consider myself A Creative Entrepreneur because I turned my creative skillsets into a business.

In 2015 I moved to Chicago, where my creative career grew. After putting ¥£$ Movement Media to rest (It was time to rebrand myself). I became a full-time creative freelancer providing photography, videography, social media management, and website design services. My photography has been featured in PEERSTEP Magazine and Voyage Chicago. I had the pleasure of shooting two fashion shows at NYFW ‘18. I worked as an assistant to photographer Rodney Wright, shooting Jennifer Lewis’ Paper back cover of her book “The Mother of Black Hollywood: A Memoir. I’ve filmed two short films and 10 music videos.
YES! Your girl was ( and is ) out here WORKING! I took the creative skills I learned over the years and monetized them, which is why I consider myself a Creative entrepreneur; Turning your creative skills into a business.
